For Muslims, it's at all times a happiness when Allah blesses you with a kid. Kids bring countless joy but also trials and accountabilities. One of the very main responsibilities you have toward your new kid, moreover physical care and love, is to give your child a meaningful Islamic name.
The Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) said about Muslim baby names: "On the Day of Resurrection, you will be called by your names and by your fathers' names, so give yourselves good names." (Hadith Abu Dawud)
Usually, Muslim parents give their newborn a name on the 7th day after his delivery (Birthday), at an Aqiqah ceremony marked by a ceremonial sacrifice of a sheep or goat. While in many traditions, names for babies are nominated for their family relevance or other significance, for Muslims, a baby's name is usually carefully chosen for spiritual and religious reasons.
The simple ruling about names is permissible. Nothing of them are forbidden nor not liked excluding what implies a sense that needs prohibition or being unpopular, such as the names that suggest dependence to other than ALLAH the Almighty and are thus banned, or the names that imply approval and are thus disliked.
